Hawkers

About

Hawkers is a specialist advisory and consultancy business created by James Hawker.

After founding and growing one of the UK’s fastest-growing technology companies, James now works with business owners, founders, and leadership teams who want experienced, practical guidance on growth, operations, technology, people, tenders and exit planning.

James built his business from the early stages into a successful and highly regarded technology company, achieving growth of around 45% year-on-year at the point of exit. The company was ultimately sold for an eight-figure sum.

Following the sale of the business, James went on to lead a venture capital-backed UK enterprise, overseeing multiple business integrations and acquisitions. This gave him further first-hand experience of scaling organisations, bringing businesses together, managing change, and operating within a more complex investor-backed environment.

That combination of founder-led growth, successful exit experience, and post-sale leadership now forms the foundation of Hawkers. The business is deliberately personal. Clients work directly with James. There are no layers of consultants, no generic reports and no unnecessary complexity. The focus is on using real-world experience to help leaders make better decisions.

James Hawker is an entrepreneur, business founder and adviser with direct experience of building, scaling, selling and integrating businesses.

Having grown a company from the ground up through to a successful exit, James understands the pressure, complexity and responsibility that comes with leading a business. He has worked through the challenges of growth, recruitment, management structure, commercial decision-making, IT delivery, governance, acquisitions, buyer engagement, sale preparation and post-acquisition integration.

Because James’s background is rooted in technology, Hawkers offers specific advisory support around IT strategy, IT functions, technology leadership and IT tenders. Alongside this, Hawkers also provides wider business advisory support across growth, team development, exit preparation, board advisory and non-executive support.

James works best with people who want honest advice, practical challenge and clear commercial thinking. His approach is direct, supportive and focused on helping business owners and leadership teams move forward with confidence.
